It just keeps on getting better. Cwmcarn last weekend was fantastic. Afan
today was even better .
With my brand new wheels (spokes pinging like fury as the settle in!), we
did the Wall this morning in 2hrs 53mins (23Km?). Very enjoyable. Clearly,
I'm more nervous thant the rest of you on the descents as I seem to be
going slower, but some of the descents had me worried!! However, I'm
pleased to say that my ascents are ok.
Then Adrian & I did the Penhydd trail (22km) in the afternoon. This has
the drawback of a very, very long climb out from the car park along
firetrack. It just seems to go on forever. But once at the top - wow The
1st piece of singletrack was a slalom through a tree-cleared area. We
bypassed a 2-3km section as we knew the light would be fading by the time
we'd be finishing, After that was a super-windy, fast descent through the
trees - the first of several. Eventually, a long, rocky technical descent
back to base where - unfortunately - the cafe was closed Time taken - 1hr
36 (missing out a 2-3Km section, mind)
Got home, fell asleep. Well-earned!
